Do participants receive a finishers medal?
Finishers in our Island Girl Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay and 5K receive an island-themed medal.
Do I get my money back if I am unable to run?
Unfortunately, there are no refunds if you are unable to run. Subject to approval there is an opportunity to defer your entry until next year for MEDICAL REASONS. A doctor's note is required. Contact the Race Directors by email.
Can I transfer my entry to a friend?
Transfers are subject to a administration fee of $10 and will be processed through eventsonline. Contact the Race Directors with transfer requests. Requests to transfer will only be accepted up to September 1st.
Will there be a baggage check?
Yes, there will be dry and secure baggage check on the Island.
How does the ferry service work?
Your entry fee includes the round trip ferry ride to Toronto Island. You will be given a ferry ticket at race kit pick up and at the ferry docks on race day.
Will there be a photographer at the finish line?
Yes, Lindsey Ryder of Ryder Photography will be out on the course and at the finish line to capture the moment!
Once online registration closes how do I register?
You can register in person at race kit pick up or on race day provided the race is not sold out. Cash or cheque only please.
What is provided at an aid station?
Each aid station will have port a potties, bandages and Vaseline. Gatorade and water will be offered.
Can my friend pick up my race kit for me?
Yes, they can. Ask them to bring along your confirmation email or a signed letter from you.
How do we see our results online?
We will post the link to Sportstats on our home page after the event.
Is there a time limit on the course?
The half marathon has a 3.5 hour time limit.
Will there be entertainment on the course?
We are pleased to announce that the INFRARED BAND will be back for the Island Girl Half Marathon & 5K with some hot, hot, hot tunes!
What is the difference between Gun Time and Chip Time?
Gun Time: The time from the sound of the starters signal to the time when the runner crosses the finish line. Also known as the Official Time. All award categories are prized by Gun Time. Real Time, Chip Time: The time from when the runner crosses the starting mats at the start line, to the time elapsed when the runner crosses the finishing mats. Prizing is not based on Chip Time.
Is there a prizing category for walkers?
No, not this year.
Where would I find the ferry schedule for the Island races?
http://www.toronto.ca/parks/island/. Our site will also have updates on what time to catch the ferry for your race.
Is Island Girl for women only?
We created Island Girl to be a race for women, in celebration of women.
Is there a minimum age for the half and 5K?
The minimum age for the half marathon is 16 years and the 5K is open to all ages.
Is there an alternative to online registration?
Yes, you can mail in your registration form. Mail in entries will be accepted until September 1, 2013. The form is found on the Registration Page.
How many people can run the relay?
The Island Girl Half Marathon Relay is a TWO PERSON relay.
Are baby joggers, strollers allowed on the course during the race?
For the safety of all participants baby joggers and strollers are not permitted on the course.
